Award-winning pre-master planning concept for New Jeddah Downtown, a transformative 5 million square metre mixed-use development spanning six integrated districts: residential communities, hospitality precincts, commercial centres, cultural museums, social spaces, sports facilities, and coastal and marine amenities. Smart-sustainable city framework built across institutional, physical, and social infrastructure, with a six-pillar smart city architecture covering governance, economy, utilities, mobility, community, and environment, designed to honour Jeddah's cultural heritage while embracing AI-powered smart city technology.
The New Jeddah Downtown competition required a pre-master planning concept for a 5 million square metre mixed-use development projected to generate 36,000 new jobs, spanning six integrated districts and needing to balance deep cultural rooting in Jeddah's heritage with a genuinely AI-enabled, sustainable urban development model, all within a competitive bid process against other master planning teams.
Led as Technology and Security Lead, developing a smart-sustainable city framework across three infrastructure layers: institutional (economic development strategy), physical (green building, renewable energy, climate-resilient design), and social (community cohesion and cultural preservation), plus a six-pillar smart city architecture spanning governance and administration, economy, utilities, mobility, community, and environment. Developed the destination vision balancing cultural heritage with AI-powered smart city technology across residential, hospitality, commercial, cultural, social, and coastal/marine districts.
Competition won, positioning New Jeddah Downtown as the model for culturally-sensitive, AI-enabled, sustainable urban development in Saudi Arabia. Master plan established across all six integrated districts with the smart-sustainable city framework as its technical backbone, the same downtown Jeddah Corniche later selected by the Kingdom for the SR75 billion, Crown Prince-launched Jeddah Central Project.
