What data we collect and why
Contact form
When you submit the contact form, we collect your name, email address, business name (optional), and message. This data is used solely to respond to your enquiry. It is not sold, shared with third parties for marketing, or used for any purpose other than responding to you.
Newsletter
When you subscribe via the newsletter form (in the footer, or on the blog and resources pages), we collect your email address. This is used solely to send you new articles and tools as they are published. It is not sold or shared with third parties, and you can unsubscribe at any time by replying to any email or contacting us directly.
Workshop booking enquiries
The workshop booking form collects your name, email address, business name, role, and preferred format. This data is used to process your workshop application and confirm your place in a cohort.
Analytics
This site uses Plausible Analytics, a privacy-first, cookieless analytics tool. Plausible does not use cookies, does not track users across websites, does not collect personal data, and is compliant with GDPR, CCPA, and PECR without requiring a cookie consent banner. No personal identifiers are collected or stored. See plausible.io/privacy for details.
Site search and Ask Terence
Searches and questions typed into the site search box, or into the Ask Terence panel on an article, are sent to this site's server, matched against an index of the site's own pages, and, for questions, passed to Anthropic's Claude model to write a short answer from the matching passages. The text of the query, and for the Ask Terence panel the earlier turns of the same conversation, is kept for up to seven days as a cached or logged answer and in aggregate counts; it is not linked to your IP address, an account, or any identifier. The conversation itself is held only in your browser tab and ends when you leave the page. Your IP address is used only for short-lived rate limiting.
Security verification
Forms on this site use Cloudflare Turnstile, a privacy-preserving bot detection service. Turnstile does not use persistent tracking cookies or build user profiles. See Cloudflare's privacy policy for details.
Cookies
This site does not use marketing, tracking, or advertising cookies. Cloudflare may set functional cookies necessary for security and performance. These are not used to identify you personally or track you across other websites.
Data hosting and transfers
The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, with servers distributed globally including in Asia, Europe, and the United States. Form submissions are processed via Resend, a transactional email service. Data is transferred to these providers only as necessary to operate the site and respond to your enquiries.
Your rights
Under the Singapore Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) and applicable international frameworks (GDPR where relevant), you have the right to:
- Request access to personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data (where we have no legal obligation to retain it)
- Withdraw consent for communications at any time
To exercise any of these rights, contact us via the contact page. We will respond within 10 business days.
Data retention
Contact form enquiries are retained for as long as necessary to manage the business relationship, typically no longer than two years from last contact. Newsletter subscriber email addresses are retained until you unsubscribe. Workshop booking data is retained for the duration of the engagement and up to two years thereafter.
Views and intellectual property
This is a personal site. The views, frameworks and publications here are my own analysis. They do not speak for Orion Five Engineering or any past employer or client, and they do not draw on the confidential information, data or proprietary methods of any of them.
Frameworks and publications on this site are released under the licence stated on each page, usually CC BY-NC 4.0. Nothing here is advice for a specific situation; engagements that call for that are contracted through Orion Five Engineering Pte Ltd.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

I write this policy myself instead of pasting a template, which is probably obvious from how short it is. There's no data broker on the other end of that contact form, no list getting sold to anyone. If you email me a question, I read it, I reply, and eventually I delete it. That's the whole system. I'd rather run something small and honest than something impressive-looking I'd have to explain away later. You can trust the plain version.
